This Diesel Oldsmobile is ready to Road Tires and Wheels!

Because why not?

Little known fact: General Motors made the Oldsmobile 98 with a 5.7-liter diesel V-8 engine in the late 1970s to the mid-‘80s. Granted, the motor didn’t put down a lot of power, but it had a significant amount of torque and got very good fuel mileage for the time. It could also spin those rear tires and wheels if it wanted to.

This video comes from somewhere in Europe at a local shop and stars one of the old, tenth-generation Oldsmobile 98 Regency Diesels packing the underpowered 5.7-liter V-8 engine. In stock form, this bad boy sent 125 horsepower at 3,600 RPM and 225 lb-ft. of torque at 1,800 RPM to the rear tires and wheels. That won’t scare the pants off of anyone, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with the American sedan.

While the camera is of late-90’s potato-like quality, it still does give us a decent look at how spinning the rear tires and wheels of this Oldsmobile can result in at least a few smiles from this car.

The tech slowly rolls this underpowered American heavyweight out to the parking lot, where the throttle is then mashed and the rear tires and wheels erupt in smoke.

It’s probably the only time that this Oldsmobile will – or has ever been considered fun – during its lifetime.
