Celebrating 50 years at Moab.

The annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah has been a destination for Jeep and all-terrain enthusiasts since 1967. To celebrate the nearly 50 years of being involved in such an event, Jeep has unveiled the Wrangler Red Rock Concept that was built as a collaboration between Jeep and Mopar. The new Wrangler Red Rock Concept was unveiled at SEMA and has numerous custom options such as off road wheels and tires, a special paint, unique graphics, and more.

“The annual Easter Jeep Safari remains one of the most significant events on any Jeep enthusiast’s calendar,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “We’re extremely grateful to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers for continuing this iconic Jeep event, and we present our Wrangler Red Rock Concept as a tribute to them and the enthusiasts who attend the annual Jeep Safari and support our brand.”

The Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept will serve as a starting point to a limited run of 50 commemorative examples in 2016. Based on the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock, the concept features beefed up Dana 44 solid front and rear axles, a Rock-Trac transfer case with 4.10 axle ratio, off road wheels and tires, and off road rock rails. A power dome hood will supply the motor with more than enough airflow. New red tow hooks are positioned at the front and rear bumper and are color coordinated with the red paint. Contrasting low-gloss Granite Crystal bumpers, a low gloss black grille, and low gross Jeep badge draw attention as does the commemorative Red Rock hood decal and badging.

Mechanically, the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept has the tried-and-true Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine driving all four off road wheels and tires. The 17-inch beadlock off road wheels and tire wear a low gloss black finish with low gloss Granite bead rings and beefy 35-inch BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain tires. A 2.0-inch lift kit raises the entire SUV enough to overcome bigger obstacles drivers may encounter on the trails. A new Warn Rubicon winch, differential covers, and reinforced rear swing gate with wheel mount round out the rugged goodies.

Inside, a special Amaretto Brown Katzkin leather covers the seats with contrasting silver stitching and “Red Rock” embroidery. As a special touch, a new Red Rock grab handle plaque is proudly put on display.

“The Jeep Wrangler is the most accessorized vehicle in our portfolio, with almost 100-percent of customers buying at least one accessory or performance part,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. “Mopar continues to support serious off-roaders by offering a full-line of high-end, hard-core quality aftermarket Jeep Performance Parts to personalize their rides and tackle extreme trails.”

The new Jeep Wrangler Red Rock special edition model will be produced in 2016 and be limited to just 50 units.
