Utility and off road ability.

While many have been begging Jeep for a production Comanche model, this year they were left with a teaser concept at the 50th Easter Jeep Safari in Moab Utah. The new concept vehicle was created to bring military and civilian together to create a utility-driven vehicle with off road abilities. The new Jeep Comanche concept features custom wheels, a five-foot bed, and lots of new goodies that we could only hope one day goes into production as a complete vehicle.

Built by a team of designers, engineers, and craftsman that have been whipping up models for the Easter Jeep Safari for years, the new Jeep Comanche brings practicality pretty much anywhere.

Based on the Jeep Renegade, the new Comanche concept features a new “Beige Against the Machine” exterior paint color that’s contrasted by a Satin Black hood, lower trim pieces, front and rear bumpers, and the custom wheels. The front bumper wears a concept lower front fascia and boasts a winch. The rear comes with a steel bumper with a five-foot bed sitting above.

The Jeep Comanche concept vehicle saw both of its custom wheels move farther apart to make room for the bed as the wheelbase was stretched by a total of six inches. The two rear doors and passenger compartment was also removed to make space for the bed.

To bring the practicality anywhere, the Jeep Comanche concept was equipped with a 2.0-inch lift kit to help it overcome obstacles. New black-painted, 16-inch custom wheels shod in 32-inch BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A tires ensure that no terrain is too tough to overcome. Powering those four wheels is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four with nine-speed automatic using a Jeep Active Drive Lock and rear differential.

Inside the two-seater, there is a new pair of seats with custom covers with MOPAR all-weather floor mats sitting beneath. New pedal covers and door sill guards make things a bit more durable than its factory Renegade cousin.

Unfortunately, the Jeep Renegade concept is just a concept, so don’t expect it to hit dealer lots anytime soon.
