We’ve all seen the ‘Back to the Future’ films. If you haven’t, then go find a way to rent them. One of Marty McFly’s dream vehicles was the old Toyota Hilux in the second film and it was quite the machine. With October 21st, 2015 being the date that they traveled into the future in the second film, Toyota has re-imagined that as a concept with their new 2015 Tacoma. The concept looks like just the movie truck with new off road wheels and tires, special lighting, paint, and more.
Toyota went back into their archives and gave the new Tacoma a special 1985 black paint that gives it a sinister look, especially when it’s paired up with the black off road wheels and tires, and exterior upgrades. The special, custom KC HiLites Gravity G46 LEDs and Daylighter Gravity LED lights are worn on the roof and the front bumper. Even the headlights and taillights were given a vintage design. Both the front and rear fascia have also been outfitted with strong and durable tubular bumpers.
Special badging is also worn around the body of the Toyota Tacoma. The Marty McFly special sports a ‘D-4S’ and ‘Toyota’ badges just like the movie truck. Behind the new off road wheels and tires are custom 1985 mud flaps.
The Back to the Future Toyota Tacoma is just as beefed up and brawny as McFly’s in the film. The Toyota Racing Development team installed a set of their own off road wheels and tires from BFGoodrich for better off road performance. Even the suspension was turned up a notch with a custom-tailored setup.
The new Toyota Tacome Back to the Future model is just a concept and won’t be traveling backwards in time… at least for the foreseeable future!
