Five-Oh with a 2.3!
Many of the cars that will be showcased at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas will always be looking in their mirrors for blue and red flashing lights. This DRAGG Ford Mustang, however, will be the one doing the flashing and possibly the chasing. Decked out in police livery with some dynamics staggered rims and a tuned 2.3-liter engine, this Mustang will be on patrol.
Although it might have an engine that’s less than half of the displacement of the mighty 5.0-liter V-8, the DRAGG Mustang isn’t short on power. Both of the rear staggered rims can churn up smoke thanks to a host of engine upgrades. The turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine gained a new Vortech Engineering intercooler system paired with an AIRAID intake by American Muscle. A Borla “Attack” cat-back exhaust system and TruFiber carbon fiber fuse box and radiator support covers make up the new hardware while BAMA tuning by American Muscle increases power on the software side of things.
Visually, the DRAGG Mustang is about the boys in blue. Commercial autobody paint covers the entire car along with the “Thin Blue Line” stripe by JN Designs and 3M graphics and logos by Ron’s Signs. Lighting up the night and offenders are West Coast Lights and Siren Federal Signal police lighting while The Lighting Firm’s headlights stare ahead. A carbon fiber body kit and rear spoiler give a sportier impression. A new custom police push bar from the City of Oxnard Fleet Services shows that the Mustang means business.
Hitting the pavement are new staggered rims, bigger brakes, and an optimized suspension. New Velgen wheels measure a wide 20 x 9.0 up front and 20 x 10.5 at the rear, strapped with 255/35 R20 and 295/35 R20 Nitto Invo tires, respectively. Behind those staggered rims sit beefed up Wilwood big brake kits for both axles to provide better stopping power. A lowered stance and sharper handling comes from the new Air Lift performance suspension by American Muscle.
The new DRAGG Mustang 2.3 is one car that you’ll have to worry about running from when SEMA rolls around!
