The ultimate all terrain machine.

There’s a new king in the world of all terrain driving and it has the heart of a feline. At the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, Jeep unveiled the ultimate trail-conquering machine – the Trailcat concept. Boasting a supercharged V-8, off road wheels and tires, and custom design, the Trailcat concept has everything you need and then some.

“These seven vehicles have been modified with Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts to take on the toughest trails, to go beyond where the road ends,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. “Mopar’s mission is to provide all FCA US vehicle owners with unique performance parts and accessories to tailor vehicles to their individual lifestyles. Nothing supports that more than demonstrating how we can equip Jeep owners to take on some of the more extreme trails in the world.”

And the new Jeep Trailcat is built to take on the toughest trails and annihilate them into dust. Instead of the usual Pentastar V-6 engine, a team of dedicated Jeep engineers and designers stuffed the mighty 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine used in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat under the hood. This means that a total of 707 horsepower reaches all four of the newly installed off road wheels and tires.

But fitting the big, meaty V-8 engine into the rugged SUV wasn’t easy. To make it all work, engineers lengthened the wheelbase by 12 inches for more space and better capability. The Jeep Trailcat sees all 707 horsepower reaching the off road wheels and tires through a six-speed manual gearbox featuring a classic ball shifter with Hellcat logo.

Visually, the Jeep Trailcat concept is just as intimidating as its powerful engine hiding under its hood. The windshield saw two inches taken off to create a sleeker shape while a power-dome vented hood with “Trailcat” decal lets others know of its power as well. Hellcat decals decorate the front fenders, and a satin black grille sits between new LED headlights and fog lamps. New steel front and rear bumpers are used with a pair of beefy rock rails connecting the front and rear off road tires are featured on both sides.

Adding to the overall trail-conquering abilities of the supercharged monster are new Dana 60 axles and Fox shocks. Hitting the dirt are 39.5-inch BFGoodrich Krwaler T/A KX tires on new 17-inch beadlock off road wheels and tires.

Inside, the Jeep Trailcat concept is straightforward with two bucket seats taken from the Dodge Viper. The seats are both made of carbon fiber and wear Katzkin leather with accent stitching.

Unfortunately, the Jeep Trailcat is just a concept and there are no plans to put the high-powered all terrain SUV into production.
